German Society for Computer Science under New Management

Bonn/Berlin, January 16, 2017 – Since January 1, 2017, Daniel Krupka and Cornelia Winter have formed the new executive board of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), the largest community of computer scientists in the German-speaking world. Daniel Krupka will manage the office in Berlin and maintain contact with politics, business and associations. Cornelia Winter is responsible for the association management and the office in Bonn.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Liggesmeyer, President of the GI: “I am convinced that under the new leadership of Cornelia Winter and Daniel Krupka, the Gesellschaft für Informatik will continue to expand its importance as the most important professional society for computer science in the German-speaking world. Especially against the background of the increasing digitalization of all areas of life and work, an independent, professionally competent and easily audible voice of computer science is important – in science, politics and business. The GI will continue to represent the interests of computer science in debates surrounding the digital transformation, for example on issues of education in a digital world, data protection, IT security, digital surveillance, or how to deal with social media.”

Daniel Krupka most recently headed the capital office of the PR agency Loesch Hund Liepold Kommunikation and, as Director of Corporate Communication, advised companies, institutions and brands on communication issues – primarily in the fields of energy, IT and digitalization. He studied Public Policy and Management at the University of Konstanz, Jiao Tong University in Shanghai (PR China) and York University in Toronto (Canada).

Cornelia Winter has been with the GI since 2000 and was previously responsible for press and public relations as well as supporting the committees. Prior to that, she worked as a journalist for the Japanese business newspaper “Sankei Shinbun” and the Japanese news agency “Kyodo News”, among others. She studied Japanese Studies, Religious Studies and Ethnology at the Universities of Bonn, Cologne and as a Rotary Scholar at the Imperial University in Nagoya/Japan.

Winter and Krupka take over the management of the GI from Alexander Rabe, who took over the management of the capital city representation of eco – Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V. in 2016.
