About the Swiss Digital Summit 2020
The Swiss Informatics association SI promotes information technology, “in Switzerland in research and in practice. With a membership of almost 2000 individuals and collectives the SI is the largest association for IT professionalism in Switzerland. Topics relevant to society such as Green IT and Ethics are actively dealt with in ca. 20 Special Interest Groups. The association of the Swiss professorate in Computer Science SIRA represents academia in SI as a collective member. Two social enterprises ECDL-SI and 3L Informatik AG aim at fostering IT literacy across Switzerland and at increasing the level of professionalism respectively.
Formerly known as the Technology Outlook, the Swiss Digital Summit (SDS) was created with the goal of informing the public of trends and new achievements in IT. Researchers from all over the world present their research in a language to be understood by the general public, while keeping the scientific depth at the highest academic level.
Based on the experiences had during the SDS 2018, the concept of the Swiss Digital Summit was developed further in 2019, which has resulted in the creation of a one day event in which all factions of SI have been integrated; The event is so planned that the diverse components that make up SI are unified into a focused profile so that potentials are made aware of and possibilities are exploited for the benefit of those participating and attending the event. Each of the component events of the SDS are so conceived that they are able to address and support one or more of the factions that make up SI.
The approach taken in structuring the SDS program is to attract the widest possible audience for the event by engaging the presidents and members of all SIGs, by addressing subjects relevant to projects undertaken by SI, by integrating those who have benefited by SI support (such as winners of SI Awards), and by celebrating the international relations that position SI internationally such GI and OSG.
This year, the Digital Summit takes place online on 08 October*at starting at 10:00. Participation is open to everybody and is for members free of charge, however participation is limited and registrations will be necessary to insure attendance.
