Helmut and Heide Balzert have endowed an award for outstanding contributions to the teaching of Informatics. The award is sponsored by the German Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), in cooperation with the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) and the Swiss Informatics Society (SI).
The goal of the award is to promote and support the awareness of the importance of “digital didactics” in teaching complex subject matter in Informatics. In particular, current and future digital possibilities should be used for the didactic teaching of knowledge, skills and abilities up to comprehensive action competence. The award is intended to promote the development and testing of innovative concepts for digital forms of teaching and learning.
The award will be given annually and is endowed with € 10,000. Nominations for this year’s award for both academic or non-academic achievements shall be submitted by May 31, 2022.
Martin Glinz, professor emeritus at the University of Zurich and member of the SI board will represent SI in the selection committee.
